Family Education Program “Marriage Is Not Scary” Explores Marital Well-Being from a Psychological Perspective

The Master’s Program in Psychology organized an educational event entitled “Marriage Is Not Scary” under the theme “From Conflict to Well-Being: Unveiling the Secrets of Fearless Marriage.” The event was conducted online via Zoom Meeting on Saturday, 12 October 2024, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM (WIB) and was open to the general public free of charge.

This program aimed to provide a comprehensive psychological understanding of marital and family dynamics, particularly in managing conflict, fostering healthy relationships, and achieving family well-being. The event featured speakers with strong academic backgrounds in family psychology.

The main session was delivered by Dr. Siti Rohmah Nurhayati, S.Psi., M.Si., Psychologist, who presented the topic “The Concept of a Happy Family from the Perspective of Family Psychology.” In her presentation, she emphasized the importance of communication, empathy, and role awareness in building healthy and adaptive family systems.

In addition to the main session, the program included several breakout discussion sessions, namely:

  • Breakout Room 1, led by Hadina Pramesti Diba S., S.Psi, which discussed “Conflict Management within the Family.”
  • Breakout Room 2, facilitated by Hasna Salsabila, S.Psi, which explored “Meaningful Family Relationships (A Eudaimonic Perspective).”
  • Breakout Room 3, presented by Ali Murtadho, S.Psi, which addressed “Role Equality within the Family.”

Through this activity, participants were expected to gain both scientific and practical insights into marriage and family life, as well as to apply psychological principles in their daily lives. This program also represents one of the academic contributions of the Master’s Program in Psychology in promoting family mental health education and literacy for the wider community.
